Il s'est contenté d'une visioconférence d'une demi-heure ce mercredi après-midi pour parler du G20...A défaut d'un tête-à-tête, d'une lettre ou d'un SMS enflammé, il aura eu le droit à un coup de fil en visioconférence. C'est un début. Nicolas Sarkozy et Barack Obama se sont téléphonés, ce mercredi après-midi. «Pendant une demi-heure», a expliqué la présidence. «A quelques jours du sommet du G20 de Londres, les deux présidents se sont entretenus des réponses que la communauté internationale devait apporter à la crise économique et financière».Selon l'Elysée, Sarkozy et Obama «ont convenu que le sommet du G20 devait avoir des objectifs ambitieux et aboutir à des décisions concrètes, pour définir une nouvelle régulation financière internationale, renforcer la gouvernance économique et soutenir la demande mondiale». Et parce que la rencontre en chair et en os, c'est quand même plus sympa, «les deux présidents se sont également réjouis de leur prochaine rencontre à Strasbourg, dans un cadre bilatéral puis dans le cadre du sommet du 60ème anniversaire de l'Otan». Mardi, le président américain a affirmé l'importance d'un «cadre reglemantaire» pour les flux de capitaux et les instruments financiers qui pourraient poser un risque pour tout le système. «Comment on y parvient, est-ce que cela doit être l'affaire de chacun des gouvernements nationaux pour qu'ensuite on coordonne de manière efficace par-delà les frontières, quelle doit être la part de ce qu'on déclare publiquement, de la transparence, comparé aux restrictions imposées à ces différents instruments..., je pense que tout cela demande encore du travail», a-t-il dit avant de préciser qu'il en parlerait avec Nicolas Sarkozy, avant le sommet du G20 prévu à Londres le 2 avril.
Sarkozy snobé par ObamaSi les deux présidents sont d'accord pour introduire un peu plus de morale dans le monde du capitalisme et de la finance, ils ne s'entendent cependant pas sur la façon de le faire. Alors que Nicolas Sarkozy et la chancelière allemande Angela Merkel plaident pour une «nouvelle architecture financière global», Barack Obama préfère parler de coordination des politiques nationales, soulignant que son administration a déjà commencé à travailler à une nouvelle réglementation.
